You are looking for a breathtaking elopement spot… I am here to convince you the Dry Lake Bed of Las Vegas might be your perfect spot. Whether you are from the Las Vegas area and want to feel like you are escaping your day to day life in Las Vegas, or you are trying to fly in for a low expense, warm and fun elopement I have found the Dry Lake Bed has something to offer everyone.
Why Elope at the Dry Lake Bed
The Eldorado Canyon Dry Lake Bed is a unique landscape. The sky is vast and the earth under our feet is cracked, which I find outstanding. 40 minutes from Las Vegas this is one of my favorite destinations to photograph. This is an unbeatable landscape for the distance it is to all the fun things Vegas has to offer.
I am not shying away from the fact that a Las Vegas wedding has it’s benefits, absolutely. Fun, quick and most importantly, NO DRAMA! I suggest going to the Dry Lake Bed for a sophisticated elopement with all the benefits of what you think for a typical Vegas wedding. Okay, so hang on for a second while I walk away from romance and talk logistics, the distance from the dry lake bed to the strip is perfect. You feel secluded, yet you are in driving distance of inexpensive hotels, James Beard award winning restaurants and of course nightlife. Whether you have 2 or 200 people at your wedding, Las Vegas has something to accommodate everyone. Not to mention you really don’t need to worry about rain.
Along with the dozens of hotel options you have on the Las Vegas strip, there are a couple of resorts off the Las Vegas strip worth exploring if you want a more restful and peaceful getaway.
- The Green Valley Ranch Resort and Spa
- M Resort Spa and Casino
- The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa
Aesthetic of an Elopement at Dry Lake Bed
As a photographer for an eye for these things, I have to mention the neutral color palette is perfect for typical wedding colors. The contrast between the light blue sky, the desert browns and a ivory, blush or baby blue dress is breathtaking! It’s an ideal getaway for a clear sunrise or sunset wedding ceremony. The backdrop looks like a canvas filled with smokey colors and calming neutrals. The Dry Lake Bed is perfect for that enchanting “wispy” look that makes photos look like it was all a dream. You can trust that your Las Vegas wedding photographer will show you the most picturesque spots to say, “I Do.” If you book with Siga Gubista the day prior to your wedding we will make sure to walk to a few viewpoints together so you can choose your perfect spot. It will be a breeze to get all your portraits taken among the vast desert landscape.
